In watching television, you see all these ad’s about body fitness, exercise equipment. Different diet programs all leading toward body fitness. All kinds of beauty products, and clothing, all to make your body to look better. There is nothing wrong with this and people should always try to take care of their body and their appearance. However, there is more to your body than just appearance.
You can compare your body to a house. You take care of your home and do all the maintenance needed to keep up the appearance of your home. You clean and maintain the inside of your home because it is your dwelling place. You assure the security of your home from thieves and unwanted invaders. You take pride in your home and you should. However, do we understand that there is more to our body than just its appearance. Do we know or even realize what is dwelling inside of our body? It’s called “your Soul”.
Your soul is a spiritual being
and your soul dwells in your body which is the home of your soul. You may look in a mirror and see your reflection but what you are really seeing is the house that your soul is living in. Your house or body of flesh will pass away and die, but your soul will live on in the place that you have determined by your life style. Hell, or Paradise, it’s up to you.
If a person is lazy or no motivation and does not maintain and keep the inside of their home clean, then soon the outside of their home will also show neglect and in need of maintains. The same is also true with the soul. If the soul is lazy and without motivation, then the soul will become unclean. When the soul becomes unclean then our body of flesh is also unclean. Sin is like a fungus and its tiny particles will spread and soon it will overcome your ability to restrain its growth. The outside and inside will become covered with the fungus of sin.
God is the owner of every soul as in Ezekiel 18:4, “Behold, all souls are mine; as the soul of the father, so also the soul of the son is mine: the soul that sinneth, it shall die”. God wants every soul to obey his commandments and to worship him, however God will not force anyone to serve him. This is called “Free Will” and we are the ones who must choose to serve God or to live in sin. God has no pleasure in any soul going to Hell as in Ezekiel 18:32, “For I have no pleasure in the death of him that dieth, saith the Lord God: wherefore turn yourselves, and live ye”.
God loves every soul and made a pathway of escape from the burden of sin. In John 3:15-16, “That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life. For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life”. That pathway has a name and it is the Lord Jesus Christ. The world is the souls of every living soul.
When a sinner repents and is baptized in the name of Jesus Christ and receives the baptism of the Spirit of God (Acts 2:38), then several things will take place within their body and soul. You have no sacrifice nor wealth that can redeem you from the wages of sin. Only God can offer that sacrifice and God did. When a sinner come’s to their Altar of Repentance they will find the Blood of the Lamb of God. There God forgives them. When they are baptized in the name of Jesus Christ then the water and the Blood washes away their sins and God has removed their sins and cast them into the sea of forgetfulness never to be remember.
But when a person receives the baptism of the Spirit of God then a new birth has its beginning. Its like a Home Improvement crew that will clean and remodel the inside and the outside of your home. In Luke 3:16, “John answered, saying unto them all, I indeed baptize you with water; but one mightier than I cometh, the latchet of whose shoes I am not worthy to unloose: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost and with fire”. That “fire of God” will burn away all the stains of sin and remove the evil habits of this world. Then the Spirit of God Almighty will dwell inside of your body and your soul will rejoice within the Spirit of God. The light of God will shine from the inside to the outside, all because you have been washed in the Blood of the Lamb and full of the Spirit of God. Your soul now dwells in a Temple because your body has been transformed into the Temple of God. In 1st Corinthians 3:16< “Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you”? 1st Corinthians 6:19-20, “What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's”.
When “born again” believers look in the mirror, they are seeing the Temple of God and you are seeing your Soul. Your Temple will grow old, but your soul will live forever in the present and joy of God’s Kingdom.
Every Christian must maintain their Temple. Every Christian must guard against anything that will defile your Temple. Every Christian must put on the “whole Armour of God” (Ephesians 6:12-18) not part of God’s protective armor but all of it. Do not run from the spirit of evil but stand and fight with the Sword of His Word and watch the spirit of evil flee from you.
Your Temple is Holy to God because God dwells inside of your body. There forth guard against the things of this world because you are a citizen of the Kingdom of God. 1st John 2:15-16, “Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. Colossians 3:1-2, “If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth”.
Always be full of the Spirit of God and never allow your Temple to become unclean because God will not dwell in an unclean temple. Ephesians 6:18, “Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints”. Keep your Temple clean and full of the Spirit of God.
Its your body, your soul, your temple but how will you maintain it. The flesh is weak and desires the things of this world, but your soul must grant its request. The flesh does not send the soul to Hell, but the Soul sends itself to Hell by refusing that great gift that comes from God. The flesh will die but the soul lives on, waiting for that Great White Throne Judgment.
Keep your robe clean and wash it in the Blood of the Lamb of God. Always be full of the Spirit of God. Never deny your Faith in Jesus Christ and never deny the name of Jesus Christ. Hold fast to the Word of God. Never forget that God dwells in you. 1st John 4:13, “Hereby know we that we dwell in him, and he in us, because he hath given us of his Spirit”.
Be strong, be watching and waiting for His Return.
