Forgotten mission of the Church.

We go to Church and worship God with other believes and listen to the sermon from the pastor or from a preacher. We look around the congregation for any new faces and we find none. We wonder why the congregation is getting smaller and then we blame the devices of Satan. We proclaim that it’s the Signs of Time, its because we are living in the End Times. But maybe the Church has fallen into a comfort zone and fell asleep. Just as in Matthew 25:5, “While the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept”.
I have seen Churches grow in numbers and I have seen Churches close their doors. I have heard all kinds of excuses why a Church is not growing, and their reasoning is unacceptable. Some believe that God will bring souls into the Church and there forth they will wait upon the Lord. Some do not believe in Personal Evangelism, some no longer will witness to a lost soul and some will not even invite others to come to their Church. Too many have lost their zeal for the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Too many no longer believe in sowing the seeds of the Gospel. Its like a story about two farmers and both farmers where men of faith. Both said that they had faith that God was going to give them a good harvest. Both went forth and sowed their seeds in their fields. The first farmer set on his porch and just looked at his field. The second farmer went forth into his field and removed the weeds and cared for his crop. Both went forth at harvest time and the first farmer had a poor harvest, but the second farmer had a good harvest. What was the difference between these two farmers because both had faith. One had faith without works and the other had faith with works. Just as in James 2:17-20. “Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone. Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works. Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble. But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?”
A Church that is growing is a Church that is spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ. They have a burning desire from the Spirit of God to take the Gospel to the lost souls because they believe that Jesus came preaching the Gospel of the Kingdom of God and Jesus said in Mark 1:15, “And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the Gospel”.
A Church must have an outreach program, personal evangelism, witnessing to lost souls, telling the sinner what Jesus has done for you. It’s putting your faith in Jesus Christ to work, because without works the faith of a Church is dead.
What is a Church? A Church is the body of believers in Jesus Christ. This body of believers belongs to Jesus and Jesus is the owner of His Church. No organization owns the Believers in Jesus, no organization owns the Pastor nor the preachers because they belong to Jesus. The Spirit of God sees and hears every believer in Jesus Christ. Because you belong to the Lamb of God. The Pastors and preachers belong to Jesus and they are the Shepherds of the of the sheep and they are to feed the Word of God to the believer and reach out to the lost souls. The Spirit of God sees and hears and knows how they are feeding His Saints and reaching out to the lost souls. Every believer regardless of one’s position within the Church is under the watchful eyes of God and everyone is accountable for their action, words, deeds, and faith.
A Church cannot withdraw from spreading the Gospel to the lost souls. Consider the parable in Luke 19:11-28. Jesus spoke this parable because they thought that the Kingdom of God was going to appear. Jesus said, “A certain nobleman went into a far country to receive for himself a kingdom, and to return”. Jesus then said that ten pounds was given to his ten servants and what his servants did however notice what one of his servants did, “And another came, saying, Lord, behold, here is thy pound, which I have kept laid up in a napkin: For I feared thee, because thou art an austere man: thou takest up that thou layedst not down, and reapest that thou didst not sow”. This servant was judged by his own words, “And he saith unto him, Out of thine own mouth will I judge thee, thou wicked servant. Thou knewest that I was an austere man, taking up that I laid not down, and reaping that I did not sow: Wherefore then gavest not thou my money into the bank, that at my coming I might have required mine own with usury?
Too those who have washed their robes in the Blood of the Lamb of God and been baptized in the name of Jesus Christ and received the baptism of the Spirit of God, then you have received a gift that is more precious than gold. All the gold and money in this whole world cannot buy this gift that comes only from God. But too many “born again” believers have put their Gift under a bushel and refuses to share the Good News about the Lord Jesus Christ with others. But Jesus tells us to let the Light of the Gift from God to go forth to the Lost Souls. Matthew 5:16, “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven”.
Every believer in the Lord Jesus Christ is charged with the task of spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Some believe that it’s the preachers responsible. Its not only the responsible of the preachers but it is also the responsible of each and every Saint of God who are the Believers in Jesus Christ. In Mark 16:15, “And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature”. Acts 1:8, “But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth”. Acts 5:32, “And we are his witnesses of these things; and so is also the Holy Ghost, whom God hath given to them that obey him”.
The souls in this world are being robbed of the truth about Jesus Christ and the Plan of Salvation. In Isaiah 42:22, “But this is a people robbed and spoiled; they are all of them snared in holes, and they are hid in prison houses: they are for a prey, and none delivereth; for a spoil, and none saith, Restore”. Where are the Saints of God who will take the Sword of His Word and free the souls that are in bondage? Have they lost their desire to be a witness, a soldier of the cross? Who will go to the lost and proclaim, “Be Restored”.
Moses had the Tabernacle of Witness in the wilderness (Acts 7:44) but the Saints of God have the Tabernacle of the Cross and the Sword of His Word. Hebrews 12:1-2, “Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God”.
The mission of the Church is the spreading of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Paul said in Romans 1:16, “For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek”. Will you proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ or are you ashamed of the Gospel?
Be Strong in the Spirit of God and the Word of God and his name is the Lord Jesus Christ.
